Overview

Overview

Beebz is a mobile app that helps users discover, book, and earn from local restaurants using short video content instead of static menus.

The platform connects diners, creators, and restaurants by letting people see food in context before deciding, while giving restaurants a new channel for discovery and growth.

The product launched publicly, supporting restaurant discovery, reservations, creator earnings, and visual menu browsing.

Context &

Problem

Context & Problem

Context & Problem

Restaurant discovery relies heavily on text menus and staged photos that rarely reflect the real dining experience. Users struggle to know what food actually looks like before ordering, while restaurants find it difficult to stand out in crowded marketplaces.

At the same time, content creators were already filming food experiences on social platforms, but those videos were disconnected from real booking or ordering outcomes.

Beebz needed to bridge this gap by combining authentic video content with real actions like booking, ordering, and earning, without overwhelming users or restaurants.

MY ROLE &

CONSTRAINTS

MY ROLE & CONSTRAINTS

MY ROLE & CONSTRAINTS

I worked as the Product Designer responsible for end to end experience design across discovery, booking, creator earnings, and restaurant interaction flows.

Key constraints included balancing three different user groups, diners, creators, and restaurants, while keeping the experience simple and intuitive. The product also needed to support real payments, payouts, and location based discovery from the start.

The app had to ship quickly, support iOS and Android, and feel familiar enough for first time users without extensive onboarding.

These constraints informed a design approach that prioritized clarity, progressive disclosure, and predictable user flows over feature density.

DISCOVERY & KEY INSIGHTS

DISCOVERY & KEY INSIGHTS

To understand where Beebz was creating value and where users hesitated, I reviewed early concepts, audited flows across consumers, creators, and restaurants, and evaluated how users moved from discovery to action.

The focus was on identifying moments of friction, uncertainty, or drop-off across discovery, decision-making, and marketplace participation, especially in a content-first environment.

Research & Inputs
Inputs included:

  • Flow audits across discovery, recommendation, and ordering

  • Marketplace walkthroughs (consumer, creator, restaurant)

  • Competitive analysis of video-first discovery platforms

  • Early stakeholder and concept feedback

Key Insights

Insight 1: Discovery Was Engaging, Direction Was Not Always Clear

What we observed:
Users were drawn into the video feed, but often lacked immediate clarity on what action to take next whether to explore more, save, book, or order.

Why it mattered:
Without clear next steps, engagement risked becoming passive browsing rather than meaningful conversion.

Insight 2: Decision Friction Increased at the Moment of Commitment

What we observed:
When users transitioned from discovery into menus, item details, or bookings, the experience shifted abruptly from exploratory to transactional.

Why it mattered:
The sudden change in context increased cognitive load and slowed decisions especially for first-time users.

Insight 3: Marketplace Value Was Fragmented Across User Types

What we observed:
Consumers, creators, and restaurants each experienced Beebz through isolated touchpoints, making the overall marketplace value less visible as a connected system.

Why it mattered:
Users could not easily understand how creators earned, how restaurants benefited, or how content powered the ecosystem.

Design Approach

The design focused on clarity, speed, and confidence.

Video was treated as the primary interface, with supporting actions like booking, saving, and ordering kept close but unobtrusive. Navigation was simplified to reduce friction between browsing and action.

Design decisions prioritized mobile first patterns, fast content scanning, and visual consistency across diner and creator experiences. UI elements were intentionally restrained to keep attention on the content itself.

Consumer Flow

People start with short clips, then save, check details, and book in a few taps.

Creator Flow

Creators upload once, follow clear requirements, and track earnings without guessing.

Business Dashboard

A simple back office for onboarding, content review, payouts, and subscriptions in one place.

Results / Evidence

Beebz is live on the iOS App Store, with a product experience built around two realities: people decide fast, and creators need clarity to earn consistently.

What shipped in the experience

  • Video first discovery that routes straight into menu viewing and booking

  • Structured item choices that reduce confusion during customization

  • A clear earnings view with balances and withdrawal actions

A profile hub that keeps core actions easy to find

What I would measure next
• Feed to menu view rate
• Menu view to booking start
• Drop off during item customization
• Booking completion rate
• Repeat bookings within 30 days
• Creator withdrawal completion time and payout issues
